In 1951 my great uncle and aunt, Orley & Lillian Ford (whose stories are recorded in These Fords Still Run and Mission in the Clouds; Orley is shown to the left pulling teeth), were serving as missionaries in El Salvador in Central America. Through their evangelistic efforts they met a young couple who were living together and pregnant with their first child. The couple embraced the Adventist message, were married and baptized by Orley, and gave birth to a son. More than fifty years later I met the couple and three of their grown children at the Milwaukee Spanish Seventh-day Adventist Church in the Portland, Oregon. One of their sons was my translator that Sabbath morning, because of the faithful soul winning efforts of my ancestors half a century before and half a hemisphere away. Only in heaven will we see the complete results of our global missions trips and giving!
