On Sabbath, October 1st a group of students from Portland Adventist Academy, led by senior Dustin Serns (yes, his dad is very proud of him!) began monthly activities in an unentered area of Vancouver, WA. The academy aged students led a Sabbath School program, a worship service, including preaching and an “adult” story, a Sabbath afternoon outreach (in spite of the rain) and a Saturday evening vespers and social.
Based out of a rented public middle school and an Adventist family’s home, their goal is to offer these activities the first Sabbath of each month during this school year, with the hope that someday soon an Adventist church will be established in zip code 98682 (population 43,000).
