“Anyone can learn to give Bible studies.”
— Donovan Kack, Pastor of the Libby, Montana Seventh-day Adventist Church District.
“I was just two weeks into being a pastor. On Sabbath afternoon I met with the members of one of my churches and asked them what they would like me to help them accomplish. They said something like ‘Pastor, you could help us with a lot of things. But the one thing we need most is to learn how to give Bible studies.
In all my Adventist education I had never learned how to give Bible studies. That night I couldn’t sleep. I almost quit pastoring right then. But after talking it over with God I decided to be two weeks ahead of my members. I went out the next day knocking on doors in my neighborhood asking if the people wanted to study the Bible. Four people said ‘yes.’ So I began studying the Bible with them and two weeks later began training the members how to give Bible studies.
Now, many years later I have dozens of my members trained to give Bible studies.”
Donovan will be on the Pastors Panel that discusses soul winning at the Northwest Adventist Leaders Convention (NWALC) this September in Portland. He Knows What He’s Talking About (H.K.W.H.T.A.)
