Rather than overemphasize baptismal numbers only, or go to the opposite extreme and ignore them most of the time, the Washington Conference leadership has developed a three year plan that emphsizes both spiritual and numerical growth. A stop sign logo with red, yellow and green lights, is used to emphasize STOP Seek Jesus, YIELD to the Holy Spirit and GO tell the world. The conference-wide baptismal goal is 1,000 people baptized per year, significantly higher than any recent year. To assist the pastors, churches and schools prepare young people for baptism many resource people are available to work alongside pastors and teachers, such as conference departmental leaders, several Bible Worker Trainers, and recently added Conference Evangelist Dan Bentzinger. A rapidly growing campmeeting offering (Over $300,000 each of the past two years) helps fund these soul winning initiatives. John Freedman and each of the Conference Departmantal Leaders team up with pastors to hold many evangelistic series each year. And John frequently says “It’s all about Jesus. He Knows What He’s Talking About (H.K.W.H.T.A.).
