I recently saw a meme on Facebook. I forget what the picture was, but it said something like “I am on the praise team in order to avoid the stand up and greet time.” It made me smile because I’m on a praise team. Although I’m not on it to avoid that time, I do dislike it, not because I don’t want to talk to those around me, but because I’m an introvert. Because it feels very forced and awkward. Many first-time church guests and introverted church members really don’t like the stand and greet time on Sabbath morning, so much so that they may wait in the foyer until it is over before coming in, and very well may not come back again. Is this true in your church? Please read the article by Thom Rainer entitled Should Your Church Stop Having a Stand and Greet Time?
